Johnstown, CO - May 16, 2020 -- In another decision prioritizing the health and safety of residents and Town employees, Town of Johnstown officials have decided to extend the closure of all Town parks and non-emergency Town facilities until June 1 in support of the State of Colorado Safer-at-Home order regarding the current COVID-19 crisis.

Town officials have been working on a plan to reopen Town facilities and parks to the public and have been looking to the State of Colorado Safer-at-Home guidelines in doing so. At this time, the gradual reopening of Town facilities, sees more staff beginning to return to the building prior to the public. The Town, in closely following County and State Health Department releases, is anticipating some public entrance to Town facilities in mid-June (this is subject to change). When facilities do reopen, the Town will be following strict social distancing guidelines and requiring residents to wear masks into facilities.

The rapidly changing nature of this crisis will determine whether or not a mid-June opening is safe as the time draws closer. More information regarding additional openings after June 1 will be announced in the coming weeks and can be found on the Town’s website or on Facebook and Twitter. There, you can also find details on cancellations or postponements of existing events.

The Town encourages residents to continue practicing preventative measures: Wash hands frequently, maintain a distance of 6 feet from others and do not congregate, wear a mask (if medically able) when going out in public, clean/Sanitize frequently touched surfaces, and avoid leaving the home if sick.

As a reminder, the closure includes the following facilities and public parks:

  • Town Hall, 450 S. Parish Avenue
  • Public Works, 201 S. 1st Place
  • Community Center (Senior Center), 101 Charlotte Street

  • Police Substation, 4890 Ronald Reagan Boulevard
