The Town of Johnstown has been aiding local businesses impacted by COVID-19 since mid-June with its Johnstown Small Business Micro Grant Program.
Johnstown, CO – July 8, 2020 – In April 2020, about 5 weeks after small businesses were forced to close on account of COVID-19, the Johnstown Town Council approved a Small Business Micro Grant Program in an effort to help struggling local businesses. The Town Council had discussed the importance of supporting local businesses, and the Town’s ability to do so, during Council Meetings throughout March and April.
“It is very important that we seek ways to ensure the viability of our businesses,” said Mayor Gary Lebsack. “Our Micro Grant Program is just one way that the Town can help our local businesses survive these trying times and see them continue to invest into our community in the future.”
It has been nearly 3 months since the program began and the Town is proud to have been able to assist 23 local businesses totaling $200,223. Over 30 local businesses have been in touch with the Town for more information regarding the Micro Grant Program and there is still funding available for Johnstown businesses who have been impacted by COVID-19. The grant covers financial impact of COVID-19 for items (not limited to) PPE, rent, and utilities.
The Town Council also passed a resolution on May 26 that supports local restaurant establishments by allowing use of public space for food and beverage service.
