The SafeWise Report recently released its fourth consecutive “20 Safest Cities in Colorado” list. The Town of Johnstown broke the Top 10 by ranking No. 6 for 2017, up from No. 11 in 2016. To compile this report, SafeWise uses the most recent FBI crime data to analyze and rank these cities, which all have a minimum population of 3,000 people.
The report reveals that the 20 safest cities in Colorado have an average of less than one violent crime per 1,000 people – one third of the national rate. Johnstown is reported as having a violent crime rate of 0.21 per 1,000 people. Colorado’s safest cities property crime rate average is reported as fewer than seven per 1,000 people. Johnstown’s property crime rate is 4.76 per 1,000 people.
