Town Storm Drainage Project will benefit Parish Park neighborhood, downtown.
On December 17, 2007 the Town Council approved a contract with Duran Excavating to install the second phase of a large drainage pipe system which when completed will carry stormwater from west of the Hillsborough Ditch at Parish Park to the Little Thompson River. A map of the project is shown below. The middle portion of the system was installed in 2006 with the Parish/Hwy 60 intersection improvements.

The project is recommended in the Town’s Stormwater Master Plan as a means of managing runoff from streets located immediately west of the Hillsborough Ditch and north of Charlotte St., and conveying that runoff directly to the Little Thompson River. The completed project will also improve the flow of runoff from the streets north and east of Parish Park, and along S. Rutherford Ave.

The overall project is expected to start in February and be completed in late Fall 2008. Existing utilities along the route will be located and marked, followed by excavation and installation of the large (up to 48” diameter) drainage pipe. According to TEC Project Engineer Brian Zick, property owners along the pipe route will receive 72 hours’ advance notice of construction work occurring in front of their property. The Engineer and the Contractor will work with the residents to ensure that they are able to get in and out of their property. The contractor will cover any excavations each night and throughout Saturday and Sunday. TEC’s representative in the field is Kyle Grossman (970-484-7477).
