The Johnstown Building Department is responsible for administering the Town adopted building codes to promote the health, safety and welfare of our community.
The Building Department offers the following services:
- Conducting plan review
- Processing building permits
- Conducting inspections
- Issuing certificates of occupancy
- Building code enforcement
Ordinance No. 2019-156: An Ordinance Amending Chapter 6 of Johnstown Municipal Code to Include Contractor Licenses
Passed upon final approval and adopted on the second reading during the March 4, 2019 Town Council meeting is Ordinance No. 2019-156, an ordinance amending Chapter 6 of the Johnstown Municipal Code to include Contractor Licenses. The ordinance requires contractors be licensed by the Town of Johnstown for any construction project that requires a building permit. Generally, but not all inclusive, this includes general contractors, electricians, plumbers, etc. The requirements include the need for applicants to provide insurance and work comp verification, as well as any applicable state licenses to ensure they have the minimum qualifications necessary to perform work in the Town. The purpose is to protect citizens, as well as contractors and their employees.
