Commercial Development

Commercial growth has exploded in Johnstown with the development of 2534 and Johnstown Plaza, located at the southeast corner of the I-25 and U.S. Highway 34 intersection. Johnstown is ideally positioned between the two main east-west interstates in America, right in the heart of northern Colorado – just 45 minutes from Denver, and only a few minutes from Loveland, Longmont, Greeley and Fort Collins. While more than 700,000 people live within 30 miles of Johnstown, the Town’s new and rapidly growing retail area looks forward to welcoming an estimated 10 million customers per year once it opens for business in Fall of 2017.

2534

2534 is a 600-acre master-planned, mixed-use community at the intersection of I-25 and U.S. Highway 34 in northern Colorado. Together, 2534 and the Town of Johnstown created the fastest Development Review Process in the region by establishing the 2534 Design Guidelines and an expedited administrative approval. The Development Fees, which are among the lowest in the region, paired with the location and streamlined development process, make 2534 the address of choice in northern Colorado.

During the ceremony, Johnstown's former mayor, Mark Romanowski, addressed the crowded tent of excited attendees saying, “Johnstown is open for business!” Allen Schlup of Carson Development and Thad Lienemann, V.P. at Sampson Construction, joined SCHEELS Chairman Steve D. Scheel in spreading excitement of the coming “retail adventure” and praised Johnstown Town staff as the best yet in terms of working with the company to make this opportunity become a reality. SCHEELS in Johnstown will open in September 2017, creating 400 new jobs!

The 250,000-square-foot SCHEELS in Johnstown will feature more than 85 specialty shops ranging from technical running gear and the latest fashion, to spectacular hunting and fishing shops. The sport shoe, hiking boot, and casual footwear selection will be the largest in the region with everything for toddlers to all athletes, from serious hikers to beach goers, and from hunters to the fashion conscious. There will be a World Class golf shop, bike shop, ski shop, canoe and kayak shop, and fishing shop. The gun and hunting shops will have a selection of guns ranging from everyday shooters to modern sporting firearms.

Special attractions will include a huge 16,000 gallon aquarium; a 65-foot, 16-car, operating Ferris Wheel; photo opportunities; a wildlife mountain; and shooting galleries. Customers will be able to test their gold skills on the in-store simulator while trying our new products. No shopping experience would be complete without tasty treats; SCHEELS’ restaurant and fudge shop, named Ginna’s Café, will serve gourmet soups and sandwiches, Starbucks coffee and specialty drinks, 24 flavors of homemade fudge, and 18 flavors of gelato.
